Osteoporosis QuizCenter for Osteoporosis Care

The Center for Osteoporosis Care was developed in order to help prevent and treat osteoporosis, a disease that gradually weakens bones, causing them to become brittle and prone to fractures. The center boasts a Fracture Prevention Program, the only one of its kind in Brevard, that is designed to help strengthen posture and muscles, which in turn helps to prevent compression fractures and reduces the risk of falling. The center also has the latest in bone density measuring machines, the Dexa Scan. This specialized machine can detect osteoporosis before a fracture occurs.

Two of OMNI Healthcare's physicians staff the Center for Osteoporosis Care. Dr. Luis Del Rosario Cabral is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr. Reinaldo Tirado is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Endocrinology.

DEXA SCANS: Early detection with a Dexa Scan is the best way to protect yourself from the potentially debilitating effects of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis does not show up on routine x-rays and taking calcium supplements is not enough.

This simple, safe, and painless test will determine your bone mineral density for the area measured and compare that result with the average density of young adults of your sex and race. This information will help your doctor determine if you need to take certain steps to protect your bone health.
