Tom Martinko, MD
Tom Martinko, MD is relatively new to the Space Coast but is not new to Pediatrics. He graduated from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland in 1983 then did his training in Pediatrics at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. He completed a Fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas in 1990. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics, but he is also the only Board Certified Adolescent Medicine specialist in the area. Adolescent Medicine is focused on ages 11 through 21 and deals with issues from growth and development, to depression, to ADHD, to acne, to menstrual issues and contraception, to sports medicine, immunizations and more.
His career took him to Georgia, Germany, Colorado, Washington State, North Carolina, Honduras, and Afghanistan. Colonel Martinko retired after 28 years in the US Army, most of which was spent teaching medical students and pediatric residents at various military teaching hospitals. Dr. Martinko then spent 4 years teaching at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama followed by 4 1/2 years at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
